Charlene K. Hampe

Charlene K. Hampe, 83, of Bremen, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick and Mary (Saar) Kestner on January 17, 1929. She married George A. Hampe on February 25, 1950.

Charlene enjoyed taking care of her family as a homemaker. She loved to see her 3 great granddaughters, Taylor, Ella and Georgia, as often as possible. They were her pride and joy. She was also a member of the First United Church of Christ.

Charlene couldn’t thank her daughter and son-in-law enough for their help while caring for her. The hard work and tough decisions made regarding her care were not made hastily.

Charlene is survived by her husband, George A. Hampe of Bremen; a daughter, Barb (Charlie) Sauter of Bremen; a son, Fred (Becci) Hampe of Mequon, WI; four grandchildren, Erin (Tony) Haseley, Michael Sauter, Casey Hampe, and Freddie Hampe; three great granddaughters, Taylor, Ella, and Georgia; a sister, Winni Cipriani; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Barbara; and two sisters, Lois Lindstrom and Dorothy Brey.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11 AM at the First United Church of Christ, Bremen, with viewing 2 hours prior to the service. Pastor Thomas Dean will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Church of Christ, The Whitlock, or Community Hospital of Bremen.
