James D. Rossell, 88, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at his residence. He was born on June 4, 1918, in Dayton, Ohio, to Ralph & Suzanna (Daut) Rossell.
On July 12, 1941, he married Alice Byers, his wife of 65 years; she survives.
James retired as a Supervisor from GMC after 42 years of service at the Allison Division in Indianapolis. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1936. He went on to serve his country during WWII as a Sergeant Major in the United States Army. James a member of the American Legion in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife: Alice Rossell of Syracuse, 2 Sons: Theodore (Chris) Rossell of Greenfield, Indiana, and Thomas (Susan) Rossell of Syracuse, 1 Daughter: Suzanna Steenburgen of California, 2 Granchildren: Keith (Lisa) Rossell of Carmel, Indiana and Brad (Jodie) Rossell of New Palestine, Indiana, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Brother, 1 Sister, and 2 Grandsons: Tim Rossell and Eric Steenburgen.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 7:00PM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. His daughter, Suzanna Steenburgen, will officiate. Full military rites will be held at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at 1PM on Friday, April 6, 2007, at the Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, Indiana. Friends may call from 4-7PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
