Caryl D. Eckert

Caryl D. Eckert, age 74, of Bremen, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. He was born on September 16, 1932, in Plymouth, to Elmer & Frances (Knepper) Eckert.

On October 12, 1963, he married Anita Young in Bourbon. She survives.

A lifetime area resident, Caryl was the Owner/Operator of Delivery Systems of Bremen. He was also a school bus driver for Bremen Public Schools for 27 years. Caryl was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Bremen, a former Fireman for the Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire Department, and a US Army Veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Anita, of Bremen, 1 Daughter: Beth (Michael) Huppert of Bremen, 1 Son: Michael (Diana) Eckert of Indianapolis, 5 Grandchildren: Mitchell and Chelsea Huppert and Jacob, Luke & Cole Eckert, 1 Sister: Anna Marie (Jay) Yarger of Carmel, 1 Brother: Robert (Janet) Eckert of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 10:30AM at the Grace United Methodist Church, 323 N. Montgomery St., Bremen, IN 46506. The Rev. William Garver will officiate. Burial will be at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8PM on Tuesday at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Grace United Methodist Church or the Lake of the Woods Property Owners Association.
