Frances B. Pifer, 91, of Syracuse, passed away at 11:20 PM, on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse.

She was born January 4, 1916 to Frank & Carrie M. (Eck) Summers. She was raised in Dayton, OH and moved to Lake Wawasee from Columbus, OH in 1976.

On September 28, 1940 she married Eugene A. Pifer at the First Lutheran Church in Dayton, OH, he preceded her on December 12, 1980.

Frances was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse, she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Circle, she was a Graduate of Fairmont High School and Sinclair College both in Dayton, OH. She was a Secretary for many years in Ohio, retiring in 1990 as a teller with the State Bank of Syracuse. Frances enjoyed her family, gardening, reading and travel.

She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Judy Schmahl of Syracuse, Linda (James) Eastman of Newark, OH, 9 Grandchildren: Jeff (Donna) Schmahl of Indianapolis, Steve (Amy) Schmahl of Denver,CO, Julie (Bob) Sanders of Denver,CO David (Kimberlee) Schmahl of Ogden Dunes, IN, Carrie (Brad) Vonderheide of Denver,CO, Christopher Jenkins of Fort Riley, KS, Mark Eastman of Newark, OH, Beth Ossa of Newark, OH and Laura (Franc) Pastorius of Newark, OH, 17 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Brother: James (Dolores) Summers of Kettering, OH, 1 Sister: Margaret (Harry) Meckstroth of Centerville, OH and 10 Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded by: Her Parents, Her Husband Eugene Pifer, 1 Brother: Dale Summers, and a Niece: Virginia Greene.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Calvary United Methodist Church (801 S. Huntington Street in Syracuse) with Pastor David Herr and Pastor John Modesitt officiating.

There will be a private Graveside Service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13th from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel in Syracuse.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or Miller's Merry Manor of Syracuse.
