Richard, her husband of 57 years, preceded her into the Lord’s presence on July 2, 2006. Her sisters Amelia Schini and Aldine Taylor also preceded her in death.
Doris was born on October 15, 1924 in Remington, Indiana to Ruban and Louise Scharlach who preceded her in death. She graduated from Gilboa High School in 1942; lived and worked in Chicago for several years prior to marrying Richard on February 6, 1949.
Doris loved her life on the farm, and her adventurous spirit gave her eagerness for travel near and far. She taught Sunday School for most of the forty years she was a member of Community Gospel Church in Bremen. As a wife and mother of noble character, her family lacked nothing of value. She worked with diligent hands to create a home that was a sanctuary for many. Her children and grandchildren counted on her for great meals, fun games of Skipbo, reminders of God’s promises, and faithful prayers. She was a mentor and example to many young mothers. The imprint of her godly commitment and sacrificial love will mark generations to come.
Visitation is from 1 pm to 8 pm on Friday, June 22, 2007 at The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Bremen Cemetery. A Celebration of Life follows at Community Gospel Church, State Rd. 331 N., Bremen at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, following the Graveside Services.
