James (Jim) L. Bowen

August 25, 1944 — September 1, 2011

James (Jim) L. Bowen, 67, passed away peacefully at 4:00 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Goshen IU Health Center. He was born August 25, 1944 to Raymond and Margaret (Rouch) Bowen. He graduated from Lakeville High School in 1962.

Jim achieved many things in his life time and was a man who could fix anything, and had past occupations as a semi driver, firefighter, and an EMT. He then went into the RV industry and worked his way up to vice-president of Gulf Stream, until he retired from Monaco Coach.

Jim had many hobbies. He was always busy working on something, but his passion was caring for his yard and garden.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife Joan, with whom he had five children, Tim Bowen of North Liberty, Suzy Bowen of Elkhart, Dave Bowen of Bremen, Amy Bowen (Rob Heiman) of Plymouth, and Kevin (Courtney) Bowen of Goshen. He also has seven grandchildren, Ryan Hunsberger of North Webster, Jamie Johnson of Elkhart, Jessie Tolson and Miriah Bowen both of Plymouth, Brandon Bowen of Bremen, Nikki Bowen of Lakeville, Lexi Bowen of Goshen, and two great grandchildren, Aiden and Daymien Tolson.

He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, Gary Bowen, Rick Bowen, Larry Bowen, Dennis Bowen all of Lakeville, Sandra Conley of Lapaz, Linda Dickson of Bremen, and Jane Jackson of Bourbon. Jim is also preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Judy, Mike, Kenny, and Connie.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Neil Wonnacott. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 - 7PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the funeral home.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Jim Bowen Cancer Benefit, which will take place September 24, 2011 at the Lakeville Legion.
