John Maurice Schrader

John Maurice Schrader, Jr., 80, of Bremen, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011 at Bremen Health Care Center. He was born August 4, 1931 to John and Estella (Shearer) Schrader, Sr. in St. Joseph County. John was a lifetime area resident. He married Marsha Lee Balmer on June 22, 1958, she survives.

John was a hard worker. Through the years, he did farming, worked with the civil service, TV Time Foods, and Universal Bearing. John always put his family first; he was a loving man, a good husband, a wonderful father and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha, two daughters Michelle Ann (Michael) Hazzard, of Granger, Suzanne Marie Schrader, of Bremen, two grandchildren Carley Nicole Holloway, Stacey Michelle Holloway, both of Indianapolis, two great-grandchildren Devin Shawn Antus and Joszlyn Nicole Thompson; also, two sisters Mary Alice (Jim) Smith, of Mishawaka and Barbara (David) Koehler, of South Bend. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother Madelyn, a sister Helen and a brother James Dean Schrader.

Services will be 10:30 AM on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen and Pastor Ben Hammond will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call 5-7 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2011 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen.
