Rev. James V. Bennett, 87, of Pierceton, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was born on February 2, 1920, in Taylor County, Kentucky, to Elmer & Nettie (Hunt) Bennett.
On September 5, 1948, he married Evelyn Miller; she survives.
Rev. Bennett resided in Kuhn Lake for the past 21 years and was a Pastor for 36 years, serving the North & South Conference of the United Methodist Church in Indiana, including the towns of Gary, Rensselaer, Churubusco, Winamac, and retiring from Dayton UMC. He was a 45+ year Mason and a Member of the North Webster United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his Wife: Evelyn, 2 Daughters: Karen (Jay) Harris of Pierceton, Marilyn (Doug) Aker of Lebanon, IN, 2 Sons: Mark (Susan) Bennett of Richmond, VA, Tim (Colleen) Bennett of Omaha, NE, 9 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 3 Brothers: Shirley Allen Bennett and Bernard Bennett, both of Indianapolis and Michael Bennett of Mooresville, IN. He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Services will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2007, at 2:00PM, at the North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Road, North Webster. Rev. Scott Mann will officiate. Burial will follow at the North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse and 1/2 hour prior to services at the Church on Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Wester United Methodist Building Fund.
