Joseph Gordon Howell

February 17, 1920 — September 13, 2007

Joseph Gordon Howell, 87, of North Webster, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at 4:15AM at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born on February 17, 1920, in Monticello, IN, to Joseph G. Howell, Sr., and Hazel (Nelson) Howell.

He married Cathryn Onez Wicker in Brownwood, Texas. They recently celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary. She survives

A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Mr. Howell had a photography shop, an electrical business and an upholstery & canvas business in North Webster, from which he retired. Mr. Howell graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1938, and attended Texas Christian University. He was a Veteran of WWII, where he served with the U.S. Army in the 13th Armored Division. He participated in the following Battles and Campaigns: Rhineland, Central Europe Go 40 WE 45, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign. He was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, VFW Post 1342, Syracuse, and American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.

Survivors include His Wife: Cathryn, 2 Daughters: Priscilla Elliot & Patricia Stewart, both of North Webster, three grandchildren & six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Nelson Howell and 1 Sister: Madeline Howell Fisher.

Graveside Services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Lake on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 2:00PM. Full Military Rites will be from the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. No visitation is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League.
