Marilyn Jane Gilmer

November 10, 1923 — September 29, 2007

Marilyn Jane Gilmer, 83 of Bremen passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Community Hospital of Bremen. She was born on November 10, 1923, in St. Joseph County, Indiana, to Theodore R. & Dorothy (Wagley) Smith.

Marilyn graduated from Madison High School in 1941, and then married Albert Gilmer on November 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2000.

Marilyn was a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, wife and friend. Her many hobbies included crochet, needle point and quilting. She also loved baking, volunteering, spending time with friends and spoiling her great-grandchildren. She was always able to find the positives in any situation. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Survivors include one daughter: Irma (Saul) Frank of Saddlebrook, AZ, one grandson: Matt (Sarah) Gilmer of Bremen, one granddaughter: Shanna Gilmer of Walkerton, two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Riley Gilmer of Bremen, one brother: John D. (Shirley) Smith, two sisters: Laveda Ellis of Denver, NC and Ann Gilbert of Elkhart,
sister-in-law: June Smith and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son: Larry Gilmer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Kevin Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of services on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the funeral home.
