Carl Reed

Carl D. Reed, 89, of Bremen, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 10:48AM, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born on May 23, 1918, in Elkhart Co., to Jesse P. & Beulah (Birkey) Reed.

On February 16, 1939, he married Lucille A. Shumaker in Osceola, IN. She preceded him in death March 1, 1984.

A lifetime area resident and Brick Mason, Carl was a Member of the Union Center Church of the Brethren, Wyatt Conservation and Coon Hunters Club and the Brick Layers Union in South Bend. He graduated from Nappanee High School.


Survivors include 3 Daughters: Jolene (Jim) Engdahl of Granger, Carol (Lloyd) Hershberger of Bremen, Karen Hill of Bremen, 1 Sister: Louise Miller of North Manchester, 9 Grandchildren: Shelly (Todd) Graverson of Bremen, Kirk (Laurie) Martz of Bremen, Ryan Martz of Mishawaka, LeAnn Rohr of Indianapolis, Jon Rohr of Nappanee, Don (Tonya) Rohr of Nappanee, Tami Hill of Eugene, Oregon, Tony (Robin) Hill of Montoursville, PA, Tara Hill of Somerville, Mass. and 11 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his Parents, a Son: Steven Carl Reed and a Sister: Annamae Moneyheffer.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 State Rd. 331, Bremen. Pastor Kenneth Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery in Nappanee. Friends may call from 4-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
