Elizabeth Shaw, 88, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on May 12, 1919, in Goshen, IN, to Donald & Hazel (Searfoss) Vanderveer.
She married John L. Shaw; he preceded her in death in 1949.
A lifetime area resident, Elizabeth worked as an English Teacher in Tell City, IN, as a Bookkeeper for 20 years at Sturm & Dillard Gravel Company in Syracuse and as a Reading Aide at Milford Elementary for 10 years. She was a graduate of Milford High School and a 1942 graduate of Indiana University, with a B.A. Elizabeth belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include 1 Brother: Richard (Mavis) Vanderveer of Syracuse, 3 Nieces: Ann (Carlos) Bennett of Dayton, OH, Janet (Larry) Lant of Syracuse and Amy (Scott) Williams of Glencoe, IL, 3 Great Nieces, 1 Great Nephew and 3 Great-great Nieces. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her Husband and 1 Sister: Margaret Purdum.
Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007, at 11:00AM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the Services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Memorial of the Donor's Choice.
