Arnold "Mike" Mcgowen

Arnold Michael "Mike" McGowen, 98, of Wyatt, passed away at Bremen Health Care Center on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 8:10AM. He was born on February 5, 1909, in Forman, ND, to Charles & Hilda (Thompson) McGowen.

Mike married Bernice Elizabeth Babcock on June 8, 1929. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1984.

A lifetime area resident, Mike was a Farmer and retired from SKF Bremen Bearing. He attended Primitive Baptist Church, and was a Member of St. Joe Valley Old Engine & Tractor Club. Mike “Learned to walk in the back of a covered wagon as he came to Indiana where he lived his entire life.”

Survivors include 1 Daughter: Dorothy (William E.) Sherk of Bremen, 2 Sons-in-law: Don Dutoi of Wyatt, Kent (Barb) Farrer of Bremen, 4 Grandchildren: Deb (Jim) Buchtel of St. Joseph, MI, Skip (Nancy) Sherk of Bremen, Jason (Julie) Farrer of Bremen, Tammie Sherk of Plymouth, 6 Great-grandchildren: Marc & April Buchtel of St. Joseph, MI, Troy & Alison Sherk of Plymouth, Jacob & Bailey Farrer of Bremen, 1 Sister: Verna Heckaman of Michigan, 2 Brothers: Norman McGowen of Bremen, Robert McGowen of Santa Clause, IN. He was preceded in death by His wife, 2 Daughters: Nancy Dutoi and Judi Farrer, 1 Grandson: Michael Sherk, 1 Infant Granddaughter: Ann Marie Dutoi and 1 Sister: Violet Jones.

Services will be held on Friday, November 16, 2007, at 10:30 AM at
Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen with Pastor Chuck Krieg officiating. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM, Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the funeral home.
