Phyllis M. Whitehead

Phyllis M. (Sauer) Whitehead, 90, of Bremen, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2007 in the home of Lewis Whitehead, her son. She was born on November 3, 1917, in Marshall County to Lewis and Loretta (Perry) Sauer . She married LaMar D. Whitehead on December 6, 1935. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Formerly of Wyatt, Phyllis graduated from Madison Township High School in 1935 and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bremen. She moved to Dewart Lake in Syracuse in 1973. Phyllis was a wallpaper hanger for many years as well as a homemaker.

Surviving are sons Lewis (Barbara) Whitehead of Bremen, Hal (Carole) Whitehead of Albuquerque, NM, and a son-in-law Ed (Sandy) Schafer of South Bend.

Grandchildren are Stephen Whitehead, Heather (Richard) Tuttle, Shane (Theresa) Whitehead, Shannon (Sandee) Whitehead, Shelby (Tim) Steudle, Stacy Whitehead, Scott Schafer, Melissa (Mark) Smitley.

Great-grandchildren are Tylyn, Jaylyn, Jeslyn Whitehead, Lauren Steudle. Ian Smitley, Skylar, Shayla Whitehead, and Megan, Emily, Jacob Tuttle.

She was preceded in death by her husband: LaMar D. Whitehead, her parents, a daughter: Jane A. Schafer and a brother: Perry Sauer.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and will be missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 10:00AM at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Neil Wonnacott. Burial will be at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 PM on Friday, January 11th, 2008, at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
