Hershel G. Fisher, 89, of Bremen, passed away at his residence after an extended illness on Sunday, January 13, 2008. He was born on May 16, 1918, in Nappanee, IN, to Virgil & Anna (Fox) Fisher.
On December 25, 1937, he married the former Pearl Laverne Young. She survives.
A farmer, Hershel was a member of the Bremen Missionary Church. He also worked at Amish Acres for 16 years, after retirement. As a father and grandfather, he set a wonderful example of devotion to God and family, love perseverance and integrity.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laverne Fisher, 3 Daughters: Loretta (Lee) Thomas of Bremen, Carolyn (George) Reed of Nappanee, Donna (Larry W.) Lemler of Bourbon, 1 Son: Bill (Diana) Fisher of Bourbon, 11 Grandchildren, 3 Great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren, 3 Brothers: Gale Dean (Nancy), Donald (Ilah), and Richard Wayne (Sharon) Fisher. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Grandson: Keith Thomas & 1 Brother: James Fisher.
Services will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at the Bremen Missionary Church. Pastor Gary Hinkle will officiate. Burial will be at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of Marshall County or the Bremen Missionary Church Building Fund.
