While a student at Madison, he was on the First Five of the 1934-35 Junior High, St Joe County Championship team of which he was very proud. He was Senior Class President of the Class of ’39 and participated in many other activities in the school besides sports.

He married the love of his life, Doris Yoder, a cheerleader from Greene Twp. School, in 1941, and they spent nearly 65 years together before her passing in 2006.

Stan was drafted into World War II and spent 1945 and 1946 in the United States Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed being around people and sharing stories, jokes and sayings. His favorite saying was “You can’t do any more than your best.” He was a Precinct Committeeman for the Republican Party for numerous years and was Past President of many organizations including the Madison Twp. Lions Club, the Grandview South Condominium Association and the Bremen Town Council.

He will be sorely missed by his many friends, and especially, by his family. Survivors include 1 son: Stephen M. Getz, of Bremen, 1 daughter: Elizabeth (Mike) Getz-Capron of Bremen, 1 brother: Rue Dee Marker of Mesa, AZ, 3 grandchildren: Stephen Jr., Lydia and Isaac and 6 great-grandchildren.
