William F. Kern, 87, of Syracuse, passed away at Lakeland Health Care and Rehabilitation in Milford at 2:28PM on March 26, 2008. He was born on April 5, 1920, in Kosciusko County, Indiana, to Forest W. & Romaine (Tom) Kern.
He married Vivian Goon on June 11, 1944. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2005.
A lifetime area resident, William worked 7 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad and 30 years for Syracuse Rubber, until his retirement in 1984. He attended Bethel Church of the Brethren in Milford, was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 223, both of Syracuse. William also served his country during WWII in the Army.
Survivors include 1 Son: Roger (Betty) of Syracuse, 2 Daughters: Sandra (Mark) Wagner of Richmond, IN, Ruby (Louie) Davis of Leesburg, 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Brother: George "Tom" Kern of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 2 Brothers: Phillip W. Kern and Jerry A. Kern and 1 Sister: Phyllis Jean Kern.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 1:00PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Pastor Verne Leininger will officiate. There will be full military honors. Burial will take place at the Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home, from 11:00AM - 1:00PM.
