Edward E. Newcomer, Sr., 91, of New Paris, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1916, in Syracuse, to Eli H. & Laura Belle (Stouder) Newcomer.
On December 9, 1933, he married Geneva (Lindzy). She preceded him in death in 1993. On September 24, 1994, he married LaDonna Blauton. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2003.
A lifetime area resident, Ed was the owner of Newcomer Plumbing and Heating in Syracuse. He was a Charter member of the Syracuse Church of the Nazarene and attended the New Paris Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include 3 Sons: Floyd (Pam) Newcomer of Ft. Wayne, Terry (Leah) Newcomer of Columbia City and Donald Newcomer of Syracuse, 3 Daughters: Laura Coquillard of Syracuse, Patsy (Chuck) Summerlot of New Paris, Connie Graber of Portland, IN, 1 Step Daughter: Rose Howell of Silver Lake, 1 Brother: Raymond Newcomer of Syracuse, 20 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 Sons: Kenneth and Edward E. Jr., 1 Daughter: Betty Cook, 4 Brothers and 2 Sisters.
Services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, April 11, 2008, at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Pastor Donald Meiner will officiate. Burial will be at the Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Paris Church of the Nazarene.
