Levi J. Beer, age 92, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare. He was born January 13, 1913, to Frank & Matilda (Aschliman) Beer.
Levi was a carpenter for his father for many years. He worked for Heinold Oil for 13 years, was a custodian at Milford High School and also a caretaker at Milford Cemetery for 20 years. He was a Member of the Wawasee Community Bible Church, where he helped construct the original church building. He was also a Gideon, a WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. He was a lifetime area resident.
On January 28, 1945, he married Katherine Kupierschmid of Hoopeston, Illinois. She survives.
Survivors inclue his wife: Katherine of Milford, 3 daughters: Virginia Beer of Milford, Cindy (JB) Routh of North Webster, Lisa Beer of Elkhart, 4 sons: Joe (Jan) Beer of Goodfield, Illinois, Tim (Courtney) Beer of Goshen, Eric Beer of Austin, Texas, Anthony Beer of Mishawaka, extended family: Delores (Ric) Allen of Avilla, Indiana, Lynn Hivley of Milford, Kim Hivley of Columbus, Ohio, 1 brother: Elmer "Todd" Beer of North Webster, 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Esther, Ann, Elsie, 4 brothers: Harry, Earl, Frank Jr., Harold, 1 grandson: Clint Jones and 1 great grandson: Jacob Jones.
Services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, November 5, 2005, at Wawasee Community Bible Church in Milford. A meal will follow the service. Pastor Tom Speicher and Pastor Otto Beer, Jr., will officiate. A military graveside service will follow at Milford Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8PM Friday at the Wawasee Community Bible Church.
