Agnes Clyde Gingrich, 96, of Syracuse, passed away on May 10, 2008, at 11:00PM, at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on July 25, 1922, in Beach, North Dakota, to Clinton and Irene (Moyer) Clyde.
On July 30, 1932, she married Benjamin William Gingrich. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. Gingrich grew up in Elkhart and then moved to South Bend, where she resided until 1964, when she and her husband moved to Syracuse for retirement. She worked as an executive secretary at Bendix Corporation and then became an accountant for a firm in South Bend. Mrs. Gingrich is accredited with establishing the accounting department for Crown International. After her official retirement in the 1960s, she became the accountant for JC Manufacturing in North Webster and remained in that capacity until 2004. She also worked in various capacities at Goshen General Hospital as a volunteer for a total of over 5000 hours. She was a member of the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church in Goshen.
Survivors include 1 Daughter: Mary Agnes G. Carter of Syracuse, 1 Grand-daughter: Christine (Steve) Schaap of Rockford, MI, 4 Great-Grandchildren: Zachery, Nicholas, Jonathon & Alex, all of Rockford, MI, 1 Brother: Rev. Robert S. (Audrey) Clyde of Syracuse, 6 Nephews and 5 Nieces. She was preceded in death by her Husband, an infant son: Benjamin Jr., Her parents, 1 Brother: Chester Clyde, 2 Sisters: Ruby Moore Hunsberger and Francis Clipp.
Private family services will be held. Friends may call Tuesday, May 13, 2008, from 5-8PM, at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Burial will take place at Highland Riverview Cemetery in South Bend. Rev. Gordon Bacon & Rev. Robert S. Clyde will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church or the American Heart Association.
