Richard A. Binkley, 60, of Bremen, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. He was born on August 4, 1947, in Plymouth, IN, to Lester & Phyllis (Menser) Binkley.
On March 28, 1970, he married Becky (Kuntz). She survives.
He lived in Bourbon and Bremen. After the Navy, he was an operating engineer with Rieth-Riley. Richard then became a teacher for John Glenn School Corporation, retiring in 2006 after 29 years. He was a 1965 graduate of Triton High School and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from IUSB. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving 3 years on the USS Intrepid. Richard was also a member of the Bremen Church of God and the Bremen VFW. He enjoyed his granddaughter Macie, riding his Honda Gold Wing, coaching and following his son’s baseball/men’s fast pitch softball career.
Survivors include his Wife: Becky of Bremen, 1 Son: Adam (Leah) Binkley of Bremen, 1 Granddaughter: Macie Binkley of Bremen, His Mother: Phyllis Binkley of Bourbon. He was preceded in death by His Father.
Services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Bremen Church of God, 5040 1st Road, Bremen. Pastor Jaree Kratzer will officiate. Military Graveside services will take place at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from
3-8PM on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Community Hospital of Bremen or Bremen Little League.
