SSG. James P. Snyder, 48, of Nappanee, formerly of Syracuse passed away May 10, 2008 in Columbus, Georgia from injuries suffered while serving in Iraq. He was born December 10, 1959, in Columbia City, IN to Maurice & Donna (Rockwell) Snyder.
He is married to Christine Hochstetler, she survives.

James was a lifetime area resident, and was an active duty Staff Sergeant with the US Army, recently stationed in Ft. Benning, GA. He previously served in the Gulf War and was in his 3rd Tour of Duty in Iraq. He Attended the Brethren in Christ Church in Nappanee.

Also surviving are his 3 children; Dourlas, Karlene, and Joseph Snyder , all at home. His Mother, Donna Snyder of North Webster. 3 brothers: David of Laporte, Daniel of Indianapolis, and Paul of Portage, IN. 3 sisters: Lorree Corbat of Syracuse, Laura Keller of Fort Wayne, and Neva O'Connor of North Webster.

Graveside services will take place at Syracuse Cemetery on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM with full millitary honors. Pastors Joseph Fox and Jeff Williams will officiate.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20 from 2-8 PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse.

Memorials may be directed to The Logan Center in South Bend.
