Lester D. "Bud" Hayner, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at North Collier Hopsital in Naples.
He was born on June 9, 1922, in Forth Wayne, IN, to Lester L. & Myrtle R. (Davis) Hayner. He graduated from South Side High School and attended Indiana University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He enlisted in the Air Corp in 1943, and proudly served three years. After returning from the service in 1946, he married Gladys Foellinger. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Bud was the owner of Bud Hayner Chevrolet in Huntertown, IN, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Huntertown, Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine of Ft. Wayne, where he was a member of the horse patrol and Jester's Court, and a life member of the Elks Lodge.
After retirement, the Hayners moved to Lake Wawasee where Bud was an active member of the Property Owner's Association Board for nine years. He also served on the board of the Turkey Creek Regional Sewer District from its inception. His hobbies were woodworking, golf and being with the family at the lake.
Surviving are his wife Gladys, of Bonita Springs, son Charles and his wife Eva of Big Long Lake, two grandsons, Matthew Hayner and Michael Hayner of Ft. Wayne, his daughter Claire Hicks and her husband Gary of Columbia City and two granddaughters, Michelle Gualandi and husband Richard of Asheville, NC, and Amanda Feiock and her husband Michael of Brownsburg, IN, two great granddaughters Elizabeth and Kate Feiock, his sisters Phyllis Bear of Sun City West, AZ, and Lavon Hawk Perry of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at 1:00PM at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will be in the McClintic Cemetery on Lake Wawasee.
Memorials may be given to the Shriner's Childrens' Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
