BREMEN – Wanda Ruth Kane, 77, passed away after a six-month illness at 3:45 p.m. on June 12, 2008.
Wanda was born on February 28, 1931 in Galien, MI to Leo Herbert & Laura (Stoner) Lauver. She graduated from North Liberty High School in 1948, and married Harry D. Kane on June 18, 1949 at North Liberty United Methodist Church.
They lived in North Liberty until moving to Bremen in 1971 when their farm was purchased for the development of Potato Creek State Park.
Wanda is survived by her dearly loved family, husband, Harry, and six daughters and spouses: David & Jane Yoder, Tim & Jan Hardy, Todd & Jenny Bennitt, Tracy & Julie Miller, all of Bremen; Don & Jill Mulvihill of Glen Ellyn, IL and Dave & Joann Teune of Concord, NH. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Delbert & Julia Lauver of Niles, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Harry and Wanda have been blessed with 17 grandchildren: Shannon (Mark) McBride, Ryan (Brooke) Libey, Shane Libey, Ben and Katelyn Yoder; Ruth, Ellen and Daniel Mulvihill; Dianne, Kevin and Bethany Hardy; Patrick, Aaron and Brian Teune; Laura, Lenae and Lacey Bennitt. They also have 7 great-grandchildren: Dane, Rylan, and Jaleigh McBride; Brylie, Seth and Elle Libey; and Landon Bates.
Wanda dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed hosting and attending family activities, as well as gardening.
A celebration of Wanda’s life in Christ for family and friends will be held at Nappanee Missionary Church on Sunday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. A time of fellowship will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen or the African Gospel Church (AGC) Baby Center in Kenya, a ministry of Nappanee Missionary Church.
