Jessica Lauren Ruiz

Jessica Lauren Ruiz, 19, of Cromwell, IN, passed away from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Friday, July 4, 2008. She was born on February 23, 1989, in Chicago, IL, to Martin Ruiz & Victoria (Siwinski) Hays.

Jessica moved to the area in 1998 and was a student at Indiana University in Bloomington. She was a pre-med student, studying to become a pediatrician. Jessica was a 2007 graduate of Wawasee High School, graduating with honors. She was recently inducted into the Phi Sigma Theda National Honor Society, member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, member of the IU Marching 100, playing the piccolo; she was also a Hudson & Holland Merit Scholar.

Survivors include her Mother: Victoria and Lanny Hayes of Cromwell, Father: Martin and Mary Ruiz of Hickory Hills, IL, 1 Brother: Jonathon Ruiz of Cromwell, Maternal Grandmother: Theodosia Siwinski of Cromwell, Paternal Grandmother: Kathleen & Nacho Melendez of Phoenix, Arizona, 1 Great Aunt: Lorraine (Ron) Berger of Merrillville, IN, 3 Aunts: Mary Beth Knight of Palos Heights, IL, Catherine Mary Campbell of Syracuse, Susan Marie Carlson of Yorkville, IL. She was preceded in death by her Grandfather: Chester Siwinski.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 10:30AM at Grace Lutheran Chuch in Syracuse. Pastor Richard Dunning will officiate. Burial will take place at Syracuse Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8PM Wednesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse.
