Steven C. Dodds

COL (Ret) Steven C. Dodds, age 65, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at University Park Health & Rehabilitation in Ft. Wayne after a 2 1/2 year battle with brain cancer.

He was born January 20, 1943 in Kendallville, IN to Horton C & Lois (Green) Dodds. October 30, 1980 he married Kellie (Ryan) who survives. Steven is a retired Colonel with the US Army after 26 years serving in the infantry. He also worked with Todd Realty in Syracuse. COL Dodds had lived in Germany, Okinawa, Puerto Rico, New York, Maryland, Florida, Virginia, Michigan, Georgia and Indiana.

He was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster, a 1961 graduate of Antilles High School in Puerto Rico, he also attended the Syracuse Schools, earned a bachelor's degree from Inter-American University in Puerto Rico, a recipient of the Soldier's Medal awarded for valor during peacetime, and volunteered for the Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund for over 15 years.

Survivors include his wife Kellie of Syracuse, his mother Lois Dodds of Cromwell, two daughters Rebecca Dodds of Ft. Wayne, Jennifer (Ryan) Fox of Boston, MA, a son Christopher Dodds of Ft. Wayne, five grandchildren, a brother Don (Rita) Dodds of Ligonier, and a nephew Paul Dodds of Ligonier.

He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew Philip.

Services will be held 10:30AM Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel in Syracuse. LTC (Ret) Chaplain Tom Batsky will officiate. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Friday.
