Maurice G. Beer

Maurice G. "Morrie" Beer, 86, of Milford, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Lakeland Rehabilitation in Milford. He was born on June 21, 1922, in Milford, to Ezra & Luella (Haab) Beer.

On March 5, 1944, he married Betty (Rassi) Beer; she preceded him in death in 1997.

Morrie was a well-known area farmer. He was also a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford and had many years of community service with the Township Advisory Board, Township Trustee, County Commissioner and County Council. Morrie had also been a Redcoat volunteer with Goshen Hospital and a bus driver with Wawasee Community School Corporation. He was 1940 Milford High School Graduate.

Survivors include 2 Daughters: Sue (Will) Schieler of Milford, Judy (Bob) Kitson of Syracuse, 2 Sons: Ken (Lynne) Beer of Milford and David (Jo Ann) Beer of Milford; 12 Grandchildren: Julie (Wayne) Lemman; Stacey (William) Feller; Jeremy (Kara) Beer; Jonah (Sarah) Beer; Amanda (Tom) Woodiel; Greg (Lisa) Kitson; Jeff (Brandi) Kitson; Kirby Kitson; Holly (Ben) Holden; Gloria (Matt) Starrett; Lori (Duane) Harman and Aaron Beer. 19 Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters: Kathryn (Harold) Emch of Archbold, OH and Eunice (Gerald) Feichter of Bluffton; 2 Brothers: Carlton "Cap" (Mary Ann) Beer and Jesse "Bud" (Shirley) Beer, both of Milford also survive. He was preceded in death by 1 Grandson: Clark Shieler; 1 Sister: Viola Leman and 1 Brother: Howard Beer.

Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008, at 10:00AM at the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford. Bill Schlatter and Dan Beer will officiate. Burial will take place in the Milford Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8PM on Saturday, October 25, 2008, and again on Sunday, October 26, 2008, from 2-6PM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kosciusko Cancer Care Fund or the American Red Cross.
