Richard Lee Griswold, 61, of Plymouth passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 13, 1947 in Plymouth to Kenneth & Martha (Crocker) Griswold. He married Judy Crum on May 3, 1969. She survives.
Richard graduated from Bremen High School in 1965 and worked for Heckaman Homes in Nappanee for numerous years. He was a Veteran of US Army, attended Bremen Church of the Brethren and Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren in Bourbon. He liked to make maple syrup, coached Bremen Little League Baseball, coached Men’s Fast-Pitch Softball, bowled in the Bremen bowling leagues, enjoyed helping his father on the farm, ice fishing, was an avid hunter, liked mushroom hunting, cutting and splitting wood, antique cars shows and spending time with friends. Richard and his wife also collected Griswold cast iron cookware. He loved attending school events for the grandchildren and having the kids to visit at the farm.
Survivors include wife Judy Griswold of Plymouth, Son Christopher J. (Robin) Griswold of Bremen, Daughter: Angela Sue (Jeff) DeVault of Plymouth, 6 Grandchildren: Dustin, Jelayne & Garrett Griswold, Jesse, Zane & baby Vanden Lee expected in March, Father Kenneth Griswold of Bremen, Brother Barry Griswold of Bremen, and Sister Carol Houshour of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen and will be officiated by Mike Martin. Burial wil be at the Bremen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 PM on Friday, January 2, 2009 and one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
There will be a graveside military service at the cemetery.
