Russell Leroy Bope

October 13, 1937 — January 21, 2009

Russell Bope, 71, of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at his residence. He was born on October 13, 1937, in Lapaz, IN, to Edward LeRoy & Ruby Della (Kaser) Bope.

He married Beverly Ilene Bonnell on September 2, 1978. She survives.

Russell was a Union Carpenter for South Bend Local #413. He was also a Long-time member of the Lapaz American Legion Post #357. Loved to fish and golf. He was a big Cubs fan and enjoyed NASCAR. He liked to play pool and cards. He was a wonderful dancer and never went anywhere without his hat.

Survivors include his wife Beverly of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, Sons: Keith Bope of North Liberty, Rex (Carmen) Bope of South Bend, Daughters: Cheryl (Rod) Davis of Lakeville, Monica (Greg) Payne of North Liberty, Tracey Bope of Mishawaka, Ruby Roxanne Bope of North Liberty, Stepson: Curtis (Cathy) Whitehead of WI, Stepdaughter: Sherri (Jay) Conrad of Wakarusa, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 Brothers: Chuck and Jerry Bope. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive; and his beloved dog Reggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Brother: Jim Bope and 1 Sister: Barb Wagner, and 1 Stepson: Tommy Hall.

Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, February 1, 2009, at the Bremen Cemetery Chapel. Pastor Tim Stewert will officiate. Burial will take place at the Bremen Cemetery.
