Dorothy Jean Kindred

October 26, 1930 — August 1, 2015

Dorothy Jean Kindred, 84, of Plymouth passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Catherine Kasper Home. Born October 26,1930 to Hattie and Otto Kempf, Jean had a beautiful, loving, and joyful spirit that she shared generously with those fortunate enough to know her. Along with the love of her life, Charles 'Chuck' Kindred, she raised three daughters in Tinley Park, IL and in 1974 they relocated to a gentler life in Culver, IN, and a home with a view of beautiful Lake Maxinkuckee.
Jean was pre-deceased by her husband as well as her parents, and is survived by her adoring daughters and their husbands, Holly (Francois) Booyse, Valerie (Bruce) Lerner, and Claudia (Bob) Johnson, her most precious grandson, Aaron Marshall, sister June Koss, niece Becky (Peter) Septoski and nephew Dan (Jeanne) Koss. Jean was also blessed by the love of her extended family, Matt and Jean Marshall, Gigi Beiswanger, Jennifer and Steve Weinert, Sister Roberta Christianson, and the many beautiful souls at Maria Center, Catherine Kasper Life Center, and the Order of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, who for the last four years have provided a daily reaffirmation of Jean's spirit of love, faith, laughter and kindness.
Jean was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver for 38 years, participating in the choir and supporting the mission of the UMW Thrift Shop. After working 27 years as bank teller, Jean retired at age 71 from the First National Bank of Monterey (in Culver) in 2002. She delighted in participating or assisting with many of the daily activities of the Maria Center, and forging friendships with the residents, staff and Sisters at The Center in Donaldson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Jean to the Wesley United Methodist Church for benefit of the UMW Thrift Shop missions (511 School St., Culver, IN 46511) or to the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ for benefit of Maria Center operations (attn PHJC Development Office, P. O. Box 1, Donaldson, IN 46513). A memorial service will be held at the Ancilla Domini Chapel in Donaldson at 1pm on Saturday, August 8, with a reception following in the Evergreen Room at Lindenwood Conference Center.
