Clarence O. Eyer, Jr., age 70, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Middlebury, Indiana, on October 13, 1935, to Clarence Oliver and Ruth (Troyer) Eyer, Sr.
Clarence moved to Syracuse 3 years ago from Orland Park, Kansas. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years, then became a purchasing agent for Western Chemical Pumps in Kansas. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, decorated U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, receiving the following awards: Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorius Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with nine Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received his Bachelors Degree from Purdue University and his MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.
On August 5, 1961, he married Linda E. (Lehr). She survives.
Survivors include his wife: Linda, of Syracuse, 2 daughters: Ruth (Steven) Mailand of Overland Park, Kansas, Karen (Jeff) Stokes of Omaha, Nebraska, 1 sister: Jane (Don) Jepsen of The Villages, Florida, 2 brothers: Lee (Linda) Eyer of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Jon (Peggy) Eyer of Duvall, Washington, and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 11:00AM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Pastor Carl Satre will officiate. He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund.
