James LaVerne Rodgers, 76, of Bremen, passed away in his home at 10:33 pm, Sunday, October 4, 2015. Jim was born on November 2, 1938 in Sharon, PA, the son of LaVerne and Mary O. (Thompson) Rodgers. On April 22, 1961, he married Diane Akin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; two children, Christine L. Rodgers and James L. Rodgers, both of Bremen; four grandchildren, Jamie, James B., Jessica, and Kennedie and eight great grandchildren, Cameron, Haiden, Khloe, Nykolas, Paityn, Wyatte, Zander, and Caiden. He is also survived by two siblings, Dave Rodgers of Terre Haute and Alice Shepherd of Bremen; two nieces, Staci and Amy and two great nieces and nephews, Braxton and Meagan.
Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving as a military policeman, until his honorable discharge. He worked as an Instrument Repairman at LTV Steel for 42 years before his retirement in 2000. He was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was a major part of the Building Committee that built the new church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 10, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center St, Bremen with two hours of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Neil Wonnacott will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family to help with any expenses
