James A. Clindaniel

James A. Clindaniel, 86, of Bremen, passed away at 6:55 pm, Thursday, October 8, 2015 in his home, surrounded by family. He was born on October 11, 1928 in Bremen, the son of the late Clayton O. and Fern (Cline) Clindaniel. On December 16, 1978, he married Aileen J. Patrick. James was a third generation mint grower, and was the last remaining mint farmer in Marshall County. He was the former owner of the Sprig-O-Mint Farm for 50 years. He was a family man who loved to farm and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and riding on passenger trains. Jim was very involved in his community, which included, Past President and owner of Sprig-O-Mint Golf club for 18 years, a life insurance agent for 48 years, Charter Member of the Bremen Jaycees, member of Bremen Exchange Bank, South Bend Commerce, Director of Miller Bearings, Past Master of Bremen Masonic Lodge 414, Order of the Eastern Star #117, past Co-President of South Bend Scottish Rite, 33 Degree Mason, Orak Shrine Tenoke, serving on the Children’s Hospital Committee, Royal Order of Jesters and Moose Lodge. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Aileen of Bremen, daughter, Deborah (Kevin) Polivick of Muncie, step-daughters, Cynthia L. Harder of South Bend and Glynes A. (Darwin) Austin of Osceola, five grandchildren, Brendon Polivick of Fishers, Alexandria Austin of Mishawaka, Bailey Harder of South Bend, McKenzie Austin of Osceola and Laney Austin of Osceola. He is also survived by a sister, Doris (Neil) Cripe of Bremen. He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, James C. “Casey” Clindaniel. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen with a 6:00 pm Masonic Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 12, 2015 in the funeral home with Rev. Gary Hinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Marshall County Humane Society or to the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center, South Bend.
