Eugene R. Schutz

Eugene R. Schutz, age 67, of Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 24, 1938, and was adopted by Walter & Erma (Pittman) Schutz.

A lifelong Bremen resident, Eugene was a rural mail carrier and farmer. He was also a 1956 graduate of Lakeville High School and a former member of the Union-North School Board. He loved bowling and was an avid sports fan.

On April 18, 1959, he married Betsey (Benson). She survives.

Survivors include his wife: Betsey; 2 daughters: Jody (Tom) Maurer of St. Louis, Missouri, Julie (Jason) Farrer of Bremen; his mother: Erma Schutz Wise of Bremen; 1 sister: Marge (Roger) Thornton of Palatine, Illinois; 2 grandchildren: Jacob and Bailey Farrer, at home in Bremen. He was preceded by his son: Brad Schutz.

Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 10:30AM at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00PM Friday, March 10, 2006.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Center for Palliative Care, Community Hospital of Bremen or the charity of the donor's choice.
