Frank S. Pittman, age 88, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 8, 1917, to Frank Pittman, Sr. and Catherine (Rice).
Frank was the retired owner/operator of Pittman Rice Oil Co., in Indianapolis, former owner of H&R Block in Syracuse and a retired realtor. He was also a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, Syracuse. He was honored with the Kentucky Colonel Award. A WWII US Marine Corps veteran, Frank graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and served as Special Agent during and prior to WWII. He was a member of the American Legion, graduate of Notre Dame with a degree in accounting and became a CPA. Frank was also a member of the Notre Dame Alumni Association, member of the Sertoma, Indiana Real Estate Association, Knights of Columbus, Past member of the Marine Corps League, member of the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation, and member of the Former FBI Special Agents. He was also a 1953 graduate of Indianapolis Cathedral High School.
On July 9, 1964, he married Margaret L. (Gill). She preceded him in death in 1992.
Survivors include a nephew, Frank (Jody) Gill of Pendleton, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Services will be held Friday, March 24, 2006, at 2:00PM at the Saint Martin dePorres Catholic Church. Military graveside services will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be given to Saint Martin dePorres Catholic Church.
