Gary Allen Stuntz

Gary Allen Stuntz, 62, of Bremen, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Rosiclare, IL. He was on a fishing trip in southern Illinois. He was born on July 19, 1946, in Plymouth, to Howard & June (Gongwer) Stuntz.

Gary grew up in rural Bremen surrounded by woods and corn fields and became an excellent athlete in high school, graduating from Bremen High School in 1965. He married Janet Klinefelter on September 30, 1967. He enlisted in the military in 1967 and was a decorated soldier in Vietnam, with 2 ½ years of active service in the Army Corps of Engineers.

He became a surveyor and construction supervisor after the war and retired from First Group Engineering, Inc., in Indianapolis. He eventually joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8972 in Bremen. There he helped the post relocate to its current location and became the Post Commander

Gary was always thinking of tomorrow and the next big thing. He enjoyed fishing since it gave him plenty of time for those thoughts. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson.

Survivors include his wife: Janet Stuntz of Bremen, 1 son: Tate (Amy) Stuntz of Noblesville, 2 daughters: Tara (Clint Town) Stuntz of Bremen and Deanne Stuntz of Bremen, his parents: Howard and June Stuntz of Bremen, 1 brother: Glenn Stuntz of Florida, 6 grandchildren: Emily, Julia, Mykenzie, Randal, Payton and Jocelynn.

Services will be held at 10AM on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Gail Law will officiate. Burial will take place at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen VFW Parking Lot Fund.
