Richard W. Schaefer

Richard W. Schaefer, 80 of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at St. Joseph Reg. Med. Ctr, in South Bend. He was born on December 28, 1928, in Norwalk, OH, to Louis F. & Evelyn M. (Burdue) Schaefer.

He married Betty Grose on October 28, 1978. She survives.

Richard graduated from LaPaz HS in 1947. He served in the US Army National Guard and retired from Preston Trucking Co. in 1988 after 42 years as a truck driver.
He enjoyed yard work and gardening and playing euchre at the Bremen VFV.

Survivors include his Wife Betty Schaefer of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, 2 daughters: Lynn Schaefer of Plymouth, Valerie (Mike) Scuillo of Henderson, NV,
2 stepsons: Robert Eberhardt of Oklahoma, Richard (Debbie) Eberhardt Bremen, 1 stepdaughter: Barbara (Frank) Washnock of Wyatt, 1 brother: John (Betty) Schaefer of Plymouth, 2 sisters: Susan Burk of Peru, Judy (Lynn) De Fries of Elkhart, 3 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 stepdaughter: Beverly Keyser and 2 brothers.

Services will be private.
