Nancy Lou Peterson, age 68, of Waubee Lake, Milford, passed away April 8, 2006, at the Leesburg Regional Health Care Center in Leesburg, Florida, after an extended illness. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana, on June 29, 1937, to William and Martha (Brown) Whetten.
On May 25, 1955, she married Robert Peterson. He preceded her in death in November 1983.
Nancy was a previous owner of Leesburg Liquors and was employed at Essix Wire, Weatherhead Corp and retired from Dana Corp in Syracuse in 2000. She was a 1955 graduate of New Paris High School, a member of the Syracuse VFW, American Legion, Eagles and the AMVets in Baldwin, Michigan. She enjoyed traveling, movies, country music, loved cooking for her children and wintering in Florida.
Survivors include her companion, David Morgan, 3 sons: Roger (Susan) and Rodney "Pete" (Brenda) of Syracuse, Rick (Anne) of Ligonier, 5 grandchildren, 3 sisters: Sue Baker of Syracuse, Carolyn (Tom) Hull of Ligonier, Anita Whetten of New Paris, 4 brothers: Larry (Martha) Whetten of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Jerry (Ann) Whetten of Syracuse, Marven Brown WHetten of Baldwin, Michigan, and Gary Whetten of Cape Coral, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister: Lois (Nelson) Hoover of New Paris.
Pall bearers will be Chad, Ross & Reed Peterson, and Troy, Doug & Steve Whetten.
Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2006, at 10:00AM, at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Pastor Harlan Steffen will officiate. Burial will follow at the Milford Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, April 13, 2006, from 3-8:00PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
