Allen D. Snyder, age 63, of Knox, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at his home. He was born on March 5, 1943, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Walton & Leona (Gunterman) Snyder.

Allen, a Master Carpenter, grew up in Mishawaka, lived in Benicia, California, spent 5 years in Warsaw, and some time in New York State, before moving to Bremen in 1987, where he lived for 10 years. He has lived in Knox for 4 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the American Legion and belonged to the Carpenter's Local Union 435 and the Lather's Union in South Bend, Indiana.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Diane Marie (Fredric "Rob" Robert) Schubert, III, of South Bend and Debra Lynn Snyder of Bremen. A step-daughter: Andrea Reese of Bremen and a step-son: Martin (Debra) Kraniak of Nappanee, Indiana. Grandchildren: Tabitha Marie, Damien Allen, Zachary Robert Schubert; Anthony, Matthew & Nicolas Reese; Tiffani, Stefani, James, Christofer, Patrick, April & Amber Kraniak. His brothers: Walton of Nappanee and Robert (Carol) of Culver. Sisters: Shirley (Carl) Erskine, South Bend; Alma (Donald "Gene") Mudica, New Carlisle; Mary (Paul) Kubsch, South Bend; Cynthia (Leroy) Collins, Howe, Indiana; Janet (Doug) Hite of Plymouth, Indiana. A brother-in-law: John Suddarth survives. Allen is also survived by his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Carolyn Suddarth and Delores Erskine and brother: Dennis Snyder.

Services for Allen will be private. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
