Theodore Kiefer

Theodore F. Kiefer, 97, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 6:26 am, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Community Hospital of Bremen after a short illness. Ted was born on September 26, 1919 in Bremen, the youngest child of the late Albert and Armate (Snyder) Kiefer. He graduated from Lakeville High School, class of 1937, and honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving from 1941-1945 in the Pacific Theatre. On October 7, 1947, he married Jane Irene Berger in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Jane preceded him in death on March 15, 1989. Ted was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bremen and retired from Bendix in 1982. After retirement, Ted discovered a skill in woodworking and made many projects for people. He was most known for his wooden marble games. He also enjoyed volunteering “retiring” from Meals on Wheels at the age of 90. This past May, he went to Washington D.C. with the Honor Flight Program. His survivors include two sons; Mike (Sue) Kiefer of Fishers, IN and Gary (Joyce) Kiefer of Bremen. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Kris Rasor, Julie Kiefer, Dustin Kiefer and Joshua Kiefer and four great grandchildren; Michelle Rasor, Robbie Rasor, Dayne Kiefer and Logan Kiefer. In addition to his wife, Ted was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan, brothers, Ray and Bob Kiefer and sisters, Thelma Shell and Ellen Siefer. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am, Friday, December 23, 2016 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center St., Bremen. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am, Friday, in the church. Pastor Neil Wonnacott will officiate. Burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery with full military honors. The family request that memorial contributions be made to either the church or charity of choice.
