Leona I Holdread

July 24, 1924 — December 20, 2016

Leona Irene Holdread, 92, of South Bend, formerly of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 7:10 am, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in her home. Leona was born on the family farm on July 27, 1924 to the late Dillman and Minna Emily (Schutz) Manges. Leona is survived by her daughter; Connie Holdread-Aldrich of South Bend; grandson; Lt. Col. James D. Aldrich of Los Angeles, CA; and four great grandchildren; Brady, Emily, Cooper, and Tialynn. She is also survived by two brothers; Wayne (Dorothy) Manges and Burt (Ruth) Manges, both of Bremen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Holdread, and sisters; Lorraine Leazenby and Carole Koontz; and brothers; Dean, Evan, and Don Manges. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, 1300 Chester St., Plymouth. The family would like to personally thank Doctor Kolbe, the Center for Hospice Care of Saint Joseph County, Signature Health Care and the Community Hospital of Bremen for their loving care and support. As a way of allowing Leona’s memory to live on, the family suggests potted plants that will live on in Leona's flower garden.
