Belva B. Rookstool, age 93, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Goshen General Hospital. She was born in Elkhart County, Indiana, on June 26, 1912, to Albert and Nellie (Rogers) Roach.
On October 29, 1941, she married Richard Rookstool. He preceded her in death in 1982.
A lifetime area resident, Belva was a school crossing guard for the Syracuse Police Department from 1987-2005. She was also a member of the Syracuse American Legion Post 223 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include 2 great nieces: Cynthia (Dale) Culp of Goshen and Bonnie (Ben) Sutherland of New Paris. 1 great-nephew: Phillip (Cathy) Vail of New Paris. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 sister: Florence Vail and 1 nephew: Russel Vail.
Services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2006, at 11:00AM at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, in Syracuse. Elder Michael Pitney, Pastor of the Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Nappanee, will officiate. Burial will follow at Solomon Creek, Benton, Indiana. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
