Alma "LaVerne" (Felix) Clutter, age 95, of North Webster, Indiana, passed away at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Pacific Grove, CA, Sunday, July 16, 2006.
She was the daughter of John W. Felix and Maud Ethel LaVerne Betts. Mrs. Clutter was born on February 16, 1911 in Lorain, OH. In June of 1932 she married William Clayton Clutter, he preceded in 1968. The Clutter's lived in Mentone, Warsaw and North Webster, IN.
LaVerne worked as a telephone operator in Cleveland, OH and a bookkeeper in North Webster and Albion. She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church. She was an avid cribbage and Pinochle player, a crossword puzzle enthusiast and a veracious reader. She raised her children and helped raise three of her grandchildren spanning nearly 50 years.
She is survived by: four children and their spouses: John J. and Delores R. Clutter of North Webster, Joyce E. and Donald Logan of Pacific Grove, CA, and William H. Clutter of Colfax, IA, five grandchildren: David A. and Kathy J. Tracy of Fort Wayne, Dr. Dyanne M. Tracy of Auburn Hills, MI, Daniel K. and Susan J. Tracy of Naperville, IL, Michelle R. Brandt of Fort Wayne, and William C. and Linda C. Clutter of Petoskey, MI, 5 great grandchildren: Erin C. Clutter of Petoskey, MI, Hope E. and Holly R. Brandt of Fort Wayne, and Sean C. Tracy of Naperville, IL.
She is preceded in death by: Her parents, her husband: William Clayton Clutter, her daughter: Judith J. Tracy and 1 step-grandchild: John Hostetler.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday,July 30, 2006 at Mentone Cemetery in Mentone, Indiana, Pastor Harlan Steffen presiding.
No Visitation is planned.
