Catherine Elaine Schwartz, 36 of Warsaw passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 4:30p.m. at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN from complications of a liver transplant. Catherine was born on September 9, 1973 in Fort Wayne.
Cathy was a 1993 graduate of Wawasee High School and was a former resident of Milford. She was very active in her community. Besides working fulltime for Wildman Uniforms, she participated in and traveled to Special Olympics events and won numerous medals. She also enjoyed bowling, for which she won trophies. She loved going to concerts at the Wagon Wheel and enjoyed the free concerts in the Warsaw Park. She was a steady patron of the Warsaw Public Library. Most of her reading centered on pets and other animals. At the time of her death, she had a dog named Sophie who was adopted from the Animal Welfare League in Warsaw. She was a life-long advocate for animals. Cathy will be missed by her family, friends and dedicated members of Rescare.
Cathy is survived by her parents, Ron and Dian Schwartz, Milford, seven brothers and sisters, Ronald Schwartz, Jr., Syracuse, Julie (Schwartz) Stroud, Crown Point, Christopher Schwartz, Chicago, IL, Timothy Schwartz, Scottsville, KY, Suzanne Schwartz, Columbus, OH, her twin brother, Michael Schwartz, Superior, WI, and Sarah Schwartz, Boulder, CO. She is also survived by fifteen nieces and nephews and one grandparent, Wendell “Bill” Schwartz, Bluffton.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 17 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Cathy would have loved for donations to be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 3489 E. 100 S., Pierceton, IN 46562 or to New Hope Pet Rescue, 9326 N. 500 E., Syracuse, IN 46567.
