Charles L. Avery

Charles L. "Charlie" Avery, age 48, of Milford, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. He was born April 11, 1958, in Goshen, to Owen and Edith (Mast) Avery.

On August 23, 1975, he married Deborah Gardner, she survives.

A lifetime area resident, Charlie worked for the Dana Corporation in Syracuse for 28 years. He was of the Brethren Faith. He was the Bargaining Committeeman for UAW Local #1405 at Dana, was a 1976 graduate of Wawasee High School and attended Ivy Tech.

Survivors include his Wife: Deborah of Milford, 2 Daughters: Beth Avery of Milford and Melissa (Salvador "Alex") Garcia of Middlebury, 5 Grandchildren: Alex Garcia of Middlebury, Zachary Avery of Milford, Eric Garcia, Alicia Garcia and Anthony Garcia all of Middlebury, his Mother: Edith Avery of Syracuse, 4 Brothers: Fred (Elinor) Avery of Plymouth, Jim (Chris) Avery of Syracuse, Allen (Carol) Avery of Syracuse, David Avery of Syracuse, 2 Sisters: Sharon (DeWayne) Lemler of Nappanee and Esther (Gary) Fisher of Leesburg. He was preceded in death by his Father: Owen Avery and 1 Brother: Ivan.

Services will be held Monday, October 9, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford. Pastor Harlan Steffen will officiate. Burial will take place at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Milford. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home in Milford.
