Barbara E. Van Nevel

Barbara E. Van Nevel, age 73, of Bremen, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Bremen Health Care Center. She was born on July 12, 1933, in Tippecanoe, Indiana, to Ralph & Connie (Smith)Elkins.
On April 19, 1964, she married Maurice Van Nevel, he preceded her in death in 1998.

Barbara was a resident of Bremen for more than 39 years. She was the former owner of Liberty Lunch in North Liberty. She owned Garway Motel, and Kopper Kettle Restaurant, both in Bremen. She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Bremen.

Survivors include 3 daughters: Peggy Van Houtte of South Bend, Beverly Little of Bremen, Shelly Harner of Bremen, 2 sons: Richard Van Houtte of South Bend, Ralph Van Nevel of Indianapolis, 1 brother: Larry "Pete" Elkins of Elkhart, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister: Sue Johnson, 2 brothers: Michael and Harold Elkins.

Services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2006, at 10:00 AM, at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Tom Hostetler will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6PM Sunday, October 15, 2006, at the Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marhsall County, The Alzheimer's Association, or the Bremen Church of the Brethren.
