Eleanore Selin, age 86, of Bremen, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2006. She was born on June 10, 1920, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Albert Paul and Emma (Chizmar) Wittig.
In 1942, she married Harry E. Selin in East Chicago. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1988.
Eleanore lived at the Lake of the Woods for the majority of her life, before residing in Bremen Manor later in life. She was the Matron for the Lake County Sheriff's Department in Crown Point, while husband Harry Selin was Warden for several years. She graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago in 1939, was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plymouth, a VFW Auxiliary Member of VFW Post #8972 and an Associate Member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association in Lake County, Indiana.
Survivors include 1 Daughter: Karen (Richard) Drake of Bremen, 1 Son: Ronald Selin of Gary, Indiana, 2 Brothers: Robert (Evelyn) Wittig of Pierceton, Indiana and Harry Allen (Sue) Wittig of Leesburg, Indiana, 3 Sisters: Bernice (John) Victor of East Chicago, Illinois, Jeri Fischer of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Betty (Bill) Baran of Sun City, Arizona. 4 Grandchildren: Kim, Ron, Lance, Amanda, 4 Great-Grandchildren: Zane, Gage, Mason and Kalie. She was preceded in death by 2 Sisters: Violet Wittig and Emily Roper and 1 Brother: Richard Wittig.
Serivces will be held Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 10:30AM at the Misher Funeral Home in Bremen. Pastor Dennis Wenzel will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Friday, November 17, 2006, and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 6835 Union Road, Plymouth, Indiana 46563 or to the VFW Post #8972 Building Fund, Bremen.
