Maria Iwankowitsch

Maria Iwankowitsch, 93, of Cromwell, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007, at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier. She was born on September 23, 1913, in Glibotschchka, Belarus, to Jacob & Sophia (Weluga) Stanul.

On February 5, 1939, she married Alexander Iwankowitsch. He preceded her in death on February 29, 2000.

Maria moved to Wawaka from Belarus in 1957 and to Cromwell in 1963. She was a homemaker, worked in the cafeteria at Cromwell Elementary for 25 years and worked as a janitor for Cromwell State Bank for 10 years. Maria loved to garden and take care of her house and family.

Survivors include 1 Daughter: Sina (Robert) Scott of Ligonier, 1 Son: Alex (Jean) Iwankowitsch, Jr., of Cromwell, 3 Grandchildren: Kirk Scott of Ft. Wayne, Nicole Iwankowitsch of Warsaw, Danielle Scott of Cromwell, 3 Step Grandchildren: Beth Long of Sarasota, Florida, Steve Dixon of Cromwell and Jill Short of Fort Wayne, 7 Great Grandchildren, 6 Step Great Grandchildren and 7 Step Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson, Eric Scott.

Services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2007, at 3:00PM at the Ligonier Presbyterian Church, 407 S. Cavin, Ligonier, IN 46567. Celebrant Larry Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell, Indiana. Friends may call from 1-3PM on Sunday, February 11, 2007, also at the Ligonier Presbyterian Church.
