Wilmer J. Frederick, 90, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Lakeland Rehab and Health Care Center in Milford. He was born on June 1, 1916, in Genoa, Nebraska, to Rev. L.T. & Minnie D. (Mayfield) Frederick.
On September 5, 1935, he married Mildred 'Elizabeth' Eirhart, she preceded him in death on January 21, 1992.
Wilmer has lived in Syracuse for the past 55 years.
He was an ordained Minister and School Teacher. He graduated from Findlay College and Winebrenner Seminary in Findlay, OH. From 1936 - 1981, he was a Pastor for many churches in Indiana, Iowa, Illinois and Michigan. 1952-1955 he Pastored the Syracuse Church of God, the Sugar Grove Church of God in Churubusco, and the Evergreen Church of God in S.E. Columbia City. He retired from Bear Lake in 1981. In 1945 he served a 6 1/2 year term as a missionary in Ulubaria, India. He taught school from 1954-1981 at various schools including Perry School in Noble County, North Webster School, Clinton Community School, Milersburg School and Westview HS both in Topeka, IN. The last 10 years of his teaching career was spent at Shipshewana School where he retired May of 1981. A lifetime of memories and family are his legacy.
Survivors include 2 Daughters: Carol Koble of Syracuse and Sharon (Steve) Richcreek of Columbia City. 2 Sons: Phil (Mary Ann) Frederick of Antwerp, OH and James (Inez) Frederick of Defiance, OH, 1 Brother: Paul M. Frederick of Pennsylvania, 4 Grandsons, 4 Granddaughters, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth, 2 Brothers: Orie I. and Lee, 7 Sisters: Ruth Semler, Mildred Hutson, Charmion Bowers, Pearl Frederick, Helen Keller, Vera Beightol and Lola Kantlanter.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 11:00AM at Syracuse Church of God, 104 E. Washington St., Syracuse, IN 46567.
Pastor George Reser and Pastor Brad Cox will officiate.
Burial will occur in Syracuse Cemetery with a Graveside service occuring at 10:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the service at the church).
Friends may call from 4-8PM on Monday, February 12, 2007 at the Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel.
