Robert R. Smith

Robert R. Smith, 88, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse. He was born on March 5, 1918, in Noblesville, Indiana, to Ross Smith and Grace (Thompson) Smith and was raised by Clara & Allen Ott.

On May 9, 1942, he married Frances Maxine Holloway, who preceded him in death in October, 1987.

A lifetime area resident, Bob owned and operated Smith Electric from 1963 to 1987. He was a member of the Syracuse Church of God, a life member of the Syracuse American Legion Post 223 and the VFW Post 1342.

Survivors include 2 Daughters: Sharon (Ed) Leamon of Syracuse, Linda (Bill) Cripe of Middlebury, 1 Son: Gene (Debbie) Smith of Syracuse, 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 sister: Margaret Relles of Sacramento, California. He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances Maxine and his parents.

Services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2007, at 11:00AM at the Syracuse Church of God, 104 E. Washington Street, Syracuse, IN 46567. Pastor Vince Wilczynski will officiate. Military honors will be held at the Syracuse Cemetery by the Syracuse American Legion and the VFW. Friends may call on Friday, February 16, 2007, from 4-8PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
